Ratnadurg Fort is located in the town of Ratnagiri in Ratnagiri District.In 1670, after several decades of Muslim rule, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj annexed Ratnadurg Fort into the Maratha Empire. Later, the fort was handed over to Aangre, who lost it to the Peshva in 1753. The British captured the fort from the Peshva in the year 1818. Ratnadurg Fort is also known by the name Bhagawati Durga Fort.One small temple of Hanumanji is at the entrance of the fort. After crossing the first entrance gate there is a door with ancient structure. From the west side of the fort, bewitching scene of Arebian Sea can be enjoyed by the tourists.
